Game Notes
The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team hosts Bryant University on Alumni Field Saturday at 1 p.m. as it concludes a two-game season opening homestand. The Stags enter the game at 1-0, while the Bulldogs are 1-1 on the year.
The Stags are wearing custom made shooting shirts during warm-up for every game this season. In the colors of the Friends of Jaclyn - blue, pink and yellow - each Stag has a shirt in his number, with the letters F.O.J. on the front, while on the back is the last name, 'Tucker'. That is in honor of Ryan Tucker, the nine-year old that the Stags adopted during the 2009-10 season and is found on the sideline of nearly every home game.

It marks the third game in as many seasons between Fairfield and Bryant. The Stags won the first meeting in 2010, 5-3, at home, while Bryant won 6-5 last season.
Fairfield defeated Stony Brook 13-10 in the season opener last Saturday and have won consecutive season opening games and started 10 of the last 11 seasons with a victory. The Stags have now won 12 season openers since elevating to the Division I level fort eh 1993 season, however, the Stags have only followed that with a win in game two five times. Fairfield went a program-best 5-0 to start the 2007 season, and went 3-0 to open the 2008 campaign., The Stags first opened with multiple wins in 1999, starting 3-0., a record they equaled in 2004. In 2005 Fairfield opened with a 2-0 mark.
The Stags are one of five ECAC Lacrosse League teams that received votes in national polls this week. The Stags are listed fifth in the USILA Coaches Poll receiving votes section, and are one of 10 teams listed as receiving votes in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. In addition, Fairfield received 64 points in the weekly NEILA Coaches Poll, to move up one spot, to fourth.
The Stags received weekly honors as well for the win over Stony Brook. Michael Roe earned the first-ever ECAC Specialist of the Week award on Monday, after his 16-22 effort at the face-off X in the win over Stony Brook. The newcomer helped the Stags win 19-26 face-offs in the game, including 11 straight at one point.
Sam Snow scored a career-best five goals in the Stags win over Stony Brook in the opener and as a result was named the NEILA Player of the Week. It is the second time in his Fairfield career that he has been so honored, earning the award after scoring four-goals versus Villanova as a rookie. He was one of three Stags with a hat trick in the game, marking the first time that has happened since March 18, 2007. Brent Adams had three goals, as did John Snellman, who has now scored at least one goal in 11 straight games. That streak, entering the week, is the seventh longest in the nation.
Bryant rebounded from a season opening loss to defeat St Joseph's 11-7 in its last outing. Colin Dunster is leading the team with seven points, behind a team-best six goals. Kevin Massa has taken every face-off thus far, 27-41, and leads the team with 16 ground balls. Goalkeeper Jameson Love has minded the net for every second and has made 25 saves for a .595 save percentage and has a GAA of 8.50. Bryant has 73 ground balls, 11 more than its opponents, but has committed eight additional turnovers, 37-29.
