BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Fairfield University women's basketball team had their five-game winning streak snapped with a tough 47-42 loss to Lehigh University this evening at Stabler Arena.

Obi-Tabot got the Stags off to a hot start, netting the first six points of the game in 1:40 span. Cizynski added a pair of buckets for the 10-0 advantage just three minutes into the contest. Lehigh got on the board at 16:42 on a jumper by Katelyn Hoskins but Vazquez answered with a three-pointer for a 13-2 lead. Cizynski later made the score 17-2 by sticking in an offensive rebound at 14:39. Lehigh hit back-to-back baskets but DaCruz pushed the Fairfield lead to 20-6 with a three-pointer from the top of the arc at 13:13.
Lehigh (3-5) took advantage of Fairfield turnovers and missed opportunities to cut the deficit to 22-15 on a three-pointer by Hilary Weaver at 5:23. Linney ended Fairfield's nearly six-minute scoring drought at 4:48 with a three-pointer while a Vazquez trifecta 30 seconds later made the score 28-17. The Mountain Hawks continued to cut into the Stags lead as Weaver made the score 28-26 with a three-pointer at the 1:24 mark. Linney nailed a jumper in the lane with the shot clock winding down send Fairfield into the locker room with a 30-26 lead.
Both teams were cold from the floor to start the second half, with neither squad scoring for the first 6:16. Lehigh finally broke through on a free throw by Katie O'Reilly at 13:44. Fairfield's first bucket of the stanza came at 13:11 on a three-pointer by freshman
Kristin Schatzlein which made the score 33-27.
The Mountain Hawks continued their run as Kerry Kinek tied it at 33-33 with a jumper at 11:28. Lehigh took its first lead of the night, 37-36, on a lay-up by Elizabeth Sharlow at 9:02 and later extended it to 45-36 at 2:30. Linney finally stopped Fairfield's skid at 2:14 with a three-pointer while DaCruz followed with a three-pointer of her own to pull the Stags within 45-42 at 1:43. A lay-up by O'Reilly with 30 seconds left on the clock pushed the lead to five points and ultimately secured the win for the Mountain Hawks.
Fairfield (5-2) travels to No. 22 Iowa State University on Sunday, December 9 for its final contest before breaking for exams. The Stags then resume action on December 22 when they host LaSalle University at 2pm in Alumni Hall.
