ORONO, Maine – The Fairfield University field hockey team dropped to the University of Maine in their second conference game, 2-1 in overtime this afternoon. The Stags have played two conference matchups into overtime.
Maine took the lead in the first half at the 26:43 mark. Hannah Keating score off her own rebound after hitting the left post. The Black Bears maintained the lead heading into the half but the Stags came out strong in the second period and freshman
Kaitlyn Taddeo scored her first collegiate goal in the 37th minute after tipping the ball off a Maine defender.
Taddeo tied the game up at 1-1 and the Fairfield defense held off the Black Bears into overtime. Maine's Zoe Adkins attacked in the third minute of overtime and off her own rebound put it past
Maddy Sposito to give Maine the 2-1 win.
The Stags will continue play on Friday October 12 as they host conference foe Albany on University field at 3p.m.
