For the third time this season the Fairfield University women's soccer team played an extra 20 minutes, and for the third time, came away with a draw. Both the Stags and host Hartford were able to find the back of the net during the second period, to finish in a 1-1 tie.
Torey Camporini tallied her first collegiate goal to bring the Stags level in the 54th minute. The Stags (2-2-3) played a corner kick into the box, which fell harmlessly, however the clear attempt by the Hawks ended up on Camporini's foot, and she put it home from just inside the 18.
After a scoreless first-half Hartford (7-0-2) got on the board first, nine minutes into the second-half. Arielle Aikens put home a shot from 10 yards out, following passes from MaryBeth Hamilton and Jessica Murphy.
Kelly Boudreau stopped five shots on the evening for the Stags, while Erin Quinlan made eight stops in net for the Hawks. Fairfield ended up with a 14-12 edge in total shots, and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
The Stags return to action on Friday, September 30 when they open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play versus Siena College. That game will be played at 7 p.m. on Lessing Field.
