Men' Lacrosse Prepares For Saturday's ECAC Title T

Game Notes

Fairfield University men's lacrosse team will play the top-seed, University of Denver, on Saturday, May 7 with an ECAC Crown and NCAA Tournament berth on the line.  The game, set for 11 a.m. MST (1 p.m. EST), will air live on ESPNU with Mark Larson and Dale Drypolcher calling all the action.

Fairfield is 8-7 on the year, and has secured its third consecutive .500 or better campaign in as many seasons under Andy Copelan.  Denver is ranked fifth in the nation and winners of nine straight and begin play at 12-2 on Saturday.

The Stags earned their shot at the ECAC crown by defeating Loyola University Maryland 10-9 on Thursday night at Peter Barton Stadium, in Denver, Colo.  It marks just the second-ever victory over the Greyhounds in program history.  If you missed the game Thursday night, or just want to see the action again, click here.

Max Trunz had a goal and an assist on Thursday night to take over the top spot on the Fairfield roster with 27 points.  Close behind is Sam Snow and his 26 points after the sophomore tallied the game-winner against Loyola.  John Snellman tallied his third hat trick of the season on Thursday and leads the squad with 20 goals on the year.
ECAC Keeper of the Year Charlie Cipriano made 11 saves on Thursday and held an opponent to single-digit goals for the 10th time this season.  Drew Palmer and his team leading 22 caused turnovers helps anchor the Stags highly-ranked defense.  Fairfield will be without the services of senior captain Sean Bannon on Saturday for the first-time since April 22, 2008 after he injured his right knee in the semifinal victory.

Fairfield third-year head coach Andy Copelan, and Denver head coach Bill Tierney, will take part in a pre-championship game press conference on Friday, beginning at 1:45 p.m. MST.  The press conferences will stream live on the Denver athletic website, free of charge.
