Katie Cizynski recorded her first career double-double while senior
Taryn Johnson netted 14 points but the Fairfield University women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling at the University of Vermont, 65-48, this evening.
Cizynski tallied 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting to go along with a career-high 11 rebounds. Johnson went 5-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from the charity stripe for her third straight game in double figures.

Felicia DaCruz finished with four points and four boards.
Cizynski scored the first basket of the game to put Fairfield up 2-0, but Vermont (2-0) quickly countered and would lead the rest of the way. Vermont took a 10-4 advantage just four minutes into the first half. Over the next four minutes, the Stags (2-1) would cut the gap to two points three times but could not overtake the Catamounts.
A lay-up by Cizynski pulled Fairfield within 14-12 at the 12:02 mark, but Vermont pushed the lead to seven, 21-14, after a layup by Lauren Wheeler with 8:15 remaining. Fairfield cut the lead to four points on a three-pointer by Linney, but Vermont answered again with a 7-1 run and went into the locker room with a 28-21 lead at the break.
The Catamounts used a 10-0 run to begin the second half and were able to hold the Stags off the rest of the way.
Fairfield returns to action on Sunday, November 20 when it travels to Quinnipiac University at 1pm.
