The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Iona College on Lessing Field Saturday night.  The loss drops the Stags to 3-5-3 on the year and 1-2-0 in conference play, while the Gaels improve to 3-8-2 overall and 2-1-0 in MAAC action.

Fairfield out shot Iona 13-2 in the second-half, and 15-8 for the game, but a miscue with just over 5:00 to play in regulation led to the Gaels game-winning tally.  Fairfield played the ball back towards the goal from just inside its defensive half of the field.  The ball came up short and Iona's Kerrie Deignan was able to beat her defender and a charging Kelly Boudreau to the ball, touch it past, and put it into the empty net.

Boudreau would finish the game with a pair of saves, facing just three shots on goal on the evening.  Iona's goalkeeper, Trista Rivera, faced five shots on net, and stopped them all, with four saves in the second-half.

The Stags also had a 3-1 edge in corner kicks, while Iona committed four additional fouls, 14-10.

Fairfield is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Yale University on Lessing Field at 7 p.m.
