Women's Soccer Falls 3-0 To Yale

The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Yale University on Lessing Field Tuesday night.  The Stags fall to 3-6-3 on the year, as they wrap- up the non-conference portion of their schedule, while the Bulldogs improve to 6-4-2.

Yale tallied its first goal 13 minutes into the contest when Melissa Gavin threaded a pass between two defenders to the foot of Enma Mullo.  Mullo put the shot towards the far post and Kelly Boudreau was able to get her hands on the ball, but not direct it out of the goal.

Boudreau, who finished with six saves, was able to make the initial stop on the Bulldogs second goal, which game 2:12 into the second-half.  Gavin took a point blank shot from the far post that Boudreau knocked away, but Gavin was able to collect the loose ball and put it home. Yale scored its final tally with 15 seconds remaining as Anne Song sent a pass inside the top of the 18 to Mary Kubiuk, who spun and put the ball home.

Elise Wilcox made the start in net for Yale and made five saves, all in the second half, to earn the victory.

Yale outshot the Stags 11-9 and both teams had three corner kick chances in the game.  Fairfield was whistled for 12 fouls, while just three were called on the Bulldogs.

Fairfield is back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Riverdale, N.Y. for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game with Manhattan College.
