The Fairfield University women's soccer team was shutout for the third consecutive time, 2-0, by host Princeton University on Tuesday night in Princeton, N.J. The loss drops the Stags to 4-5-1, while the Tigers improve to 5-3-0.
Caitlin Blosser tallied both goals for Princeton, breaking up the scoreless game with the game-winning goal in the 58th minute. She added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute.
Kelly Boudreau (Farmington, Conn.) the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week made 11 saves in the game, while allowing two goals. Princeton finished the game with a 17-4 advantage in shots, with a 13-3 edge in shots on goal. The Stags earned five corner kick chances, while the Tigers had four corners. Fairfield committed an additional foul, 10-9, and was whistled for the only offside of the game.
Princeton keeper Kristin Watson stopped all three shots the Stags put on net, playing the entire 90 minutes.
Fairfield returns to action on Friday, October 1 when it travels to New Rochelle, N.Y., to open MAAC play at Iona College. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
