The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Army – ranked seventh in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region – this afternoon on Lessing Field. The defeat drops the Stags to 4-4-0 on the year, while the Black Knights improve to 7-2-0.
Army tallied the only goal of the game in the 58th minute of play when Caroline Rice (Paw Paw, Mich.) controlled a ball on the near sideline. She dribbled towards the middle of the field before making a pass along the top of the box. Kim An (Oak Ridge, N.J.) won the ball there and shot the ball along the ground past the charging Kelly Bourdeau (Farmington, Conn.)

Jasmin Corniel (Yonkers, N.Y.) dribbled around several Army defenders and got clear at the near post where she laced a ball towards the opposite post, Army keeper Alex Lostetter (Pittsburgh, Pa.) to make a diving save.
Boudreau finished the game with three saves for the Stags, while her Army counterpart, Lostetter, also made three saves in the contest. The Black Knights outshot the Stags 11-9 for the game, including a 5-1 edge in the first-half of play.
The Stags return to action on Thursday, September 23 when they host intrastate rival Hartford at 7 p.m.
