12 Stags Christmas - Day Three

Past and present student-athletes of the Fairfield University swimming and diving teams participated in the Swim Across The Sound back on August 7. Eighteen former and current members participated in order to raise money towards St. Vincent's Medical Center and their cancer prevention, support, and education programs. The participants made up two alumni teams, and one team of current swimmers and divers.
The Swim Across The Sound event is a 16-mile open water trek from Port Jefferson, N.Y. to Bridgeport, Connecticut across Long Island Sound. Fairfield student-athletes raised $19,600 out of nearly $34,000 raised in the University Challenge. In it's 23rd year of existence, the SWIM marathon, including 280 swimmers, raised $50,000 more than in 2009, for a total of $400,000, which was a new record. The annual fundraising amount is now close to $2,600,000 and Fairfield is proud to have so many active participants. Fairfield University athletics has also signed on as partner with Swim Across The Sound and will participate in a variety of activities with the organization throughout the year.
