Four Stags Score In 4-0 Defeat Of Saint Peter's

Box Score
The Fairfield University women's soccer team won its second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game, with a 4-0 win over visiting Saint Peter's College on Sunday afternoon. The victory improves the Stags overall record to 6-5-2 and the MAAC record to 2-0-1, while the Peahens all to 3-11-0 on the year and 0-4-0 in league play.
Casey Frobey (Sandy Hook, Conn.) scored the decisive goal of the game with 105 seconds remaining in the first-half, putting a penalty kick past Erin Ronan (Worcester, Mass.), who had just entered the game. Ronan came into the game just a second earlier when Saint Peter's starting keeper Caitlin Hoffer (Bardonia, N.Y.) pulled down Jasmin Corniel (Yonkers, N.Y.) right outside of the penalty box and received a red card. The ensuing free kick for the Stags went off the Peahens wall, but a Fairfield forward was fouled in the box resulting in the penalty kick being awarded.
Fairfield, which outshot Saint Peter's 31-6 for the game, controlled play in the second-half, with the extra-player on the field, and tallied three additional goals. Carly Beyar (South Hempstead, N.Y.) struck first in the second-half, lifting a ball from the far side over the keepers head and into the back of the net in the 67th minute.
Just under a minute later, Lauren Reilly (Boca Raton, Fla.) blasted a shot off of the keeper and into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead. Nicole Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) tallied the final goal, heading a pass from Elise Hemmer (Manasquan, N.J.) into the back of the net with 6:57 to play.
The Fairfield defense recorded its eighth shutout of the season, allowing the Peahens to put only two shots on net in the contest. Kelly Boudreau (Farmington, Conn.) stopped both of those shots to post her 23rd career clean sheet. Hoffer made five saves in her 43:06 of action, while Ronan also made five saves, in 46:54, and allowed four goals.
The Stags continue MAAC play on Friday, when they travel to Baltimore, Md., for a 7 p.m. matchup with defending league champion, Loyola University Maryland. Fairfield remains on the on October 17, when it plays at MAAC foe Rider, before returning home for a pair of games October 22 and 24.
