Casey Smith ’17 begins her third season as Fairfield's Director of Women's Basketball Operations. A former 1,000 point scorer for the Stags, she will return to her alma mater after playing one professional season in Germany.
Smith played just three seasons for Coach Frager and the Stags but averaged 12.3 points per game in her career, the third highest mark for a Stag since 2000. A constant offensive presence, Smith was named to the All-MAAC Third Team for three-straight seasons and helped the Stags to a semifinal appearance in the MAAC Tournament twice. Smith ranks in the top-20 in program history in several categories including: field goals made (448), field goal percentage (.430), and blocks (73).
One of 15 student-athletes to play professionally overseas during the Frager era, Smith played one year with the BG 74 Velichen Ladies in the Damen Basketball Bundesliga League in Germany.
In her new role, Smith will be in charge of all daily operations of the team including travel, overseeing video exchange, and coordinating community activities.
