Biography

2009: Rutledge continued to be an impact player in the midfield, starting all 17 of his appearances. An offensive threat, Rutledge also played a defensive role during the year. He spent most of his time centrally, but also used his speed to distribute the ball down flanks. He tallied one assist during his junior season, setup the Stags’ lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Siena College. Although he did not score, Rutledge was accurate with his scoring chances, placing four of his six shots on goal. He attempted six shots with three of those coming against Towson University.

2008
: Rutledge appeared in all 18 games this season, including 10 starts scattered throughout the campaign. The forward tallied his first point of the season when he assisted on the game-winning goal at the MAAC Tournament championship game. He earned a start in the first three games, before coming off the bench in the next three outings. He also had three straight starts from October 19-24 (Saint Peter’s, Manhattan, and Rider), as well as from November 2-9 (Canisius, Marist, and Siena). Rutledge spent most of his time as a midfielder this season, but did step up into an offensive role on occasion. He took five shots in 2008, which included three attempts in the Iona game. He also took a shot against Florida Gulf Coast and Manhattan.

2007
: Rutledge wasted little time in helping the cause when he scored the tying goal against St. John's, which eventually helped the Stags post a 2-1 win. He started his first six appearances, and added two more starts. He finished with 12 appearances, including both games of the MAAC tournament. Seven of Rutledge's 12 appearances came against non-conference opponents, as did six of his eight starts. He came off the bench against Harvard and Siena, as well as both MAAC tournament games. Rutledge was one of five freshmen to tally a point in 2007, and finished fourth among newcomers in scoring.

Before Fairfield
: Rutledge earned the soccer team’s most valuable player award as a senior at AB Lucas School in Ontario. A forward, Rutledge finished his career with 40 goals, and was among the team’s leading scorers in each of his four seasons. Rutledge could challenge for playing time as the season progresses. Rutledge played for the Canadian U-17 national development team, and the U-18 national team.
