Eight Games at Rafferty Stadium Highlight 2018 Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

The season opens with a Feb. 10 doubleheader on Conway Field

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Eight games on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium highlight the 2018 schedule for Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse, as announced today by Head Coach Andy Copelan. The Stags are slated to meet three NCAA postseason qualifiers from 2017 and a total of five teams that won at least 10 games last spring.

2018 Fairfield Men's Lacrosse Schedule

Fairfield opens the 2018 campaign at home, welcoming Vermont to Rafferty Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 10. The 2 p.m. contest is the back-end of a doubleheader that will also include Fairfield Women's Lacrosse beginning their season against Holy Cross at 11 a.m.

The following Saturday, the Stags hit the road to visit former conference foe Saint Joseph's. The road swing then continues on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights were 10-4 in 2017 with three wins over nationally-ranked opponents.

The opening month of the season concludes on Conway Field on Tuesday, Feb. 27 as in-state foe Hartford makes the short trip south for the first meeting between the Stags and Hawks since 2011. The five-game residency on Conway Field continues against Stony Brook for a 1 p.m. faceoff with the Seawolves on Saturday, March 3.

More midweek action comes to Rafferty Stadium on Tuesday, March 6 for an afternoon tilt with Quinnipiac. The Stags will then entertain a pair of NCAA teams from 2017. First, reigning Ivy League Champion Yale visits on Saturday, March 10. One week later, Penn State makes the trip to the Nutmeg State for the rematch from last season's St. Patrick's Day classic at State College.

A visit to NJIT kicks off a four-game road swing on Tuesday, March 20 followed by a Saturday, March 24 outing at Villanova to wrap-up non-conference action.

"Our non-conference schedule will certainly challenge us as we ready ourselves for CAA play," said Copelan. "After a productive fall season, we are looking forward to getting back to work next semester and preparing for Vermont on February 10."

The Stags' road trip continues as Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action begins on Saturday, March 31 at Delaware and concludes the following Saturday, April 7, under the lights at Shuart Stadium against Hofstra.

Fairfield will host CAA competition for the first time on Saturday, April 14 when Drexel takes to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for a 1 p.m. faceoff. UMass will be on the visiting sideline the following Saturday, April 21, as the Stags celebrate Senior Day prior to a 1 p.m. meeting with the Minutemen.

The regular season concludes on Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m. as the Stags visit three-time defending CAA Champion Towson. Fairfield upended the Tigers, 9-8, last spring to mark the third time during Copelan's tenure that the Stags defeated an eventual Final Four participant.

The top four teams in the CAA regular season qualify for the 2018 CAA Championship, which will be hosted by the top seed beginning on May 3.
