Fairfield Falls to Siena

FAIRFIELD, CONN. – Two days after topping the Terriers in Brooklyn, the Fairfield University women’s swimming and diving team lost to Siena 156-84.

Kelly Cordes was the only Fairfield swimmer to finish with an individual victory. In the 200y Freestyle she finished first with a time of 1:59.80, and in the 500y Freestyle she claimed the top spot with a time of 5:24.10.

In the 1650y Freestyle event Danielle Latino (19:39.10) and Carolyn Kern (19:51.56) placed second and third respectively to earn points for the Stags. Liz Avery earned third place finishes in the 50y Freestyle with a time of 25.88 and 100y Freestyle with a time of 56.45. Grace Goddard (2:15.48) and Donna Lam (2:15.63) placed third and fourth respectively in the 200y Butterfly event. Kelly Mulligan grabbed a second place finish in the 200y Backstroke clocking in at 2:12.68.

Jane Rice was the top Fairfield diver on Monday, placing in second in both the one and three meter dives. In the 1-meter she scored 192.75 and in the 3-meter scored 215.55.

The women will be back in the pool on Sunday, January 24 at Sacred Heart for their next competition.
