FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will travel to Emmitsburg, Md., for their first-ever meeting with the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers for a three-game slate with the newest member of the MAAC. The series will begin with a Friday afternoon game at 3pm and will be followed by single games on Saturday at 1pm and Sunday at noon.
The Stags bring a 12-10 overall record and an unblemished 3-0 MAAC record into the series after their sweep of Siena last weekend.
Fairfield still holds the best offense in the league, leading the MAAC in: batting average (.308), home runs (35), slugging percentage (.523), on-base percentage (.416), and runs per game (8.5).
Two Stags will bring extended hitting streaks into the series with
Mike Becchetti currently hitting in 14-straight games and Bergevin tallying a hit in 11-straight. Becchetti is also the conference leader with a .413 average, 38 hits, and 28 runs scored.
Charlie Pagliarini had eight RBI during the last week to bring his season total to 30, the tops in the MAAC and already setting a career-high. Pagliarini also leads the conference with a .538 on-base percentage.
The Fairfield pitching also stepped up in the three-game series against Siena as they tallied a 0.86 ERA allowing just two runs and eight hits in 21 innings.
Jake Noviello highlighted the starters with a complete game two-hit shutout with a career-high 10 strikeouts en-route to being named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time in his career.
The Mount brings an 11-12 overall record into the series but were swept by Niagara in their first-ever MAAC set. Cooper Adams is the ace of the staff with a 2.86 ERA with hitters batting .197 against him. Scott Seeker is the team's leading hitter with a .384 average and six home runs.
The Stags will return to Alumni Diamond for a midweek contest against Yale on Tuesday at 3pm.
