WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Fairfield University men's rowing team competed at the 2022 New England Championships with the varsity 4 highlighting the day for the Stags. The shell secured second place in the grand final after winning its heat to qualify for the race.

The varsity 4 opened the championships for the Stags, starting with a first-place run in its heat by completing the course in 6:59.15. The time was strong enough to qualify for the grand final which ended with a second-place finish with a time of 6:45.61. The Stags were represented by Michael Hamilton, Michael Pagliaro, Michael Greene, Ryan Wrynn, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia.

The second varsity 8 was next in the water for Fairfield and it responded with a seventh-place run in the heat race (7:04.40) and a second-place finish in the third final (6:44.77). The entry included Lanyon Henwood, Patrick Arsenault, John Riley, Christian DiGangi, Eddie Pizzaro, Frank DiNatale, Jack Cartnick, George Voegele, and coxswain Angeles Mendoza.

The varsity 8 ended the day for Fairfield by taking fifth in its heat (6:29.10) before securing third in the third final (6:24.05). The Stags boat was comprised by Will LaMotta, Ryan Borsy, Alec Beckwith, Mike McCarthy, Alex Ford, Alex Hemmat, Brendan Martin, Zach Rogers, and coxswain Tom Flynn.

The men's rowing team will compete next at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on May 13-14.
