PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Fairfield University men's rowing team competed in four events as part of the La Salle Invitational on Saturday. The Invitational also included Lehigh University and host La Salle University. The Stags placed boats in the varsity 8, the 2nd varsity 8, the varsity 4, and the novice 4/lightweight 4.
The varsity 8 opened the day and finished runner up to Lehigh with the Stags crossing the line in 6:14.7 and the Hawks doing the distance in 6:03.3. The Stags were represented by
Michael Hamilton,
Zach Rogers,
Spencer Chidley,
Ryan Wrynn, Jake Godwin, Michaael Pagliaro,
Michael Greene,
Brady Stergion, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia.
In varsity 4 action, Fairfield finished third by registering a time of 6:42.4 behind the efforts of
Michael Hamilton,
Michael Pagliaro Michael Greene,
Brady Stergion, and coxswain Tarabocchia. The 2nd varsity 4 moved up one spot in the standings by recording a run of 6:52.9 with Jake Godwin,
Ryan Wrynn,
Spencer Chidley,
Zach Rogers, and Tom Flynn rowing for the Stags. La Salle (6:43..8) and Lehigh (7:04.7) rounded out the event.
The novice 4/lightweight 4 race closed the Invitational with Fairfield placing one entry from each class. The Stags'Â novice 4 taking third in 7:05.2 and the lightweight 4 securing fourth (7:11.1)Â in the event with the La Salle novice 4 taking the top spot (6:30.0) and the La Salle lightweight garnering second (6:44.4). The Fairfield novice 4 included

Jack Cartnick, and coxswain Skye Deraffele. The Stags' lightweight 4 consisted of Will LaMotta, Alex Beckwith,

The men's team will compete next on Saturday, April 30 when its heads to Worcester for the New England Championships.
