PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Fairfield University rowing teams traveled south to participate in the Murphy Cup and came away with another strong performance in the early spring. The Stags men's varsity 8 captured first in the petite final while the women's varsity 8 secured a second place run in the petite final as well.
The men's varsity 8 started the day by taking third place in its head, crossing the final line in 6:15.39 with Temple posting the winning time of 5:54.33. The Stags earned a spot in the petite final and made the most of it by taking the top spot in the race, running the course in 6:03.32. The Stags were more than 30 seconds better than runner up Fordham. Fairfield was represented by

Spencer Chidley,
Zach Rogers,
Jerry Malloy,
Brady Stergion, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia.
The women's varsity 8 followed a similar path as its counterpart, taking third place in its opening heat by owning a time of 6:41.14. Georgetown was the top finisher in the heat with its time of 6:30.85. In the petit final, Fairfield was less than a second off the winning time of 6:37.20, completing its run in 6:38.21. The Stags entry was comprised by Arianna Welton, Flo Caces, Isabella King, Chloe Lennon, Emma Sczachta, Ana McDonough, Kathryn Bergstrom, Arden Costello, and coxswain Ericc Dobbs.
The men's novice 4 competed in its respective final and came up third in the event, recording a time of 6:52.33. La Salle won the race by registering a final time of 6:29.33.

The men's varsity 4 competed in its heat and took fifth place after completing the distance in 7:06.61. LaSalle secured the win with its run of 6:51.66 to advance in the event. The Stags boat included

Ryan Borsy, and coxswain Tom Flynn.
The women's second 8 also was part of the Stags' day, placing third in the heat but was unable to make it to either final. Georgetown earned the win in the heat race with a time of 6:41.94, slightly ahead of Fairfield's time (6:46.40). Audrey Sedensky, Olivia Heilbronn, Meghan Megill, Megan Blair, Christina Caruso, Ana Szymanski, Catie Lapolla, Catherine Morrissey, and coxswain Hannah Cross comprised Fairfield's entry.
