NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's rowing team recorded first-place finished by the pair, varsity 4, varsity 8, and the novice 8 at the Fall Metropolitan Championships this afternoon. The women's team sent the pair, the varsity 8, the second varsity 8, the novice 8, and the novice 4 to top finishes during the event.
On the men's side, The
pair opened up the Fall Mets and gave the Stags their fast start, taking the race with a time of 7:08 behind the efforts of Gerry Malloy and Ryan
Borsy. Iona (7:21) and Fordham (7:47) rounded out the top three spots in the pair.
The
varsity 8 took home the gold with its run of 6:25 edging out runner up Fordham University (6:52) with the winning crew comprised by Will
LaMotta,
Michael Hamilton, Spencer
Chidley, Ryan
Wrynn, Jake Godwin,
Collin Hicks,
Michael Greene,
Zach Rogers, and coxswain Tom Flynn. The
novice 8 also secured a victory with its performance of 7:14.9, slightly ahead of Iona's second-place run of 7:16.3. The Stags were represented by

The
varsity 4 C boat earned a first-place run in its race by running the course in 7:22.3, besting Manhattan (7:28.9) and Maritime B (8:07.8). The C boat included Will
LaMotta, Ryan

Spencer Chidley, Jake Godwin, and coxswain
Angelis Mendoza. The
varsity 4 A and B shells were part of another race and took home third (7:03.2) and second (7:02.1), respectively. The B boat consisted of George

Brendan Martin, Ryan
Borsy, and coxswain Tom Flynn. The C shell was represented by Gerry Malloy,
Collin Hicks,
Michael Greene,
Zach Rogers, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia. The race was won by Fordham, just seconds ahead at 6:59.1.
The
novice 4 rounded out Fairfield's entries, taking third place with its time of 8:15.0) behind Iona (7:20.0) and Fordham (7:24.0). The Stags entered Pat

For the women, the
varsity 8 ran the course in 6:54.4 which was nearly 15 seconds better than runner up Sacred Heart (7:10.5). The Stags were represented by Emily

Szachta, Catherine Morrissey, Kathryn
Bergstrom, Arden Costello, and coxswain Erin Dobbs.
The
second varsity 8 B entry also had the same result with its time of 7:06 which was followed up the
A boat with its time of 7:09. The B entry included Audrey
Sedensky, Chloe Lennon, Rebecca Patti, Grace Fallon, Christina Caruso,
Adalia Flores, Madison
McSherry, Caroline
McAndrew, and coxswain Hannah Cross. The A boat was comprised by
Kierstan Murray,
Kaylee Vreeland, Meghan
Megill, Sarah
Wendling, Isabella King, Megan Blair,
Catie Lapolla,
Florencia Caces, and coxswain
Katelynn Banville.
The
pair took the first place by rowing to a time of 8:24.4 with Kathryn
Bergstrom and Ana McDonough rowing for Fairfield. Iona (8:49.9) and Maritime (9:39.2) comprised second and third in the race. The
novice 4 and the novice 8 both won their respective event with the novice 4 posting a time of 7:51.7 and the novice 8 sporting a time of 7:46.2. In the 4s, Arianna

Kalin donned the Fairfield colors while Michaela Thompson,

Maddie Gibson rowed in the
single competition and placed second by rowing the course in 9:42.behind Maritime (8:46). The women's
pair was comprised by Kathryn
Bergstrom and Ana McDonough which took first place with its run of 8:24.4 which outpaced Iona's time of 8:49.9.Â
The women's
varsity 4, behind the efforts of Jess
DeMarse, Abigail
Morrill, Cassie Reilly, Sydney
Timchak, and coxswain Charlotte
Finnerty, secured third place based on its run of 8:41.8. Sacred Heart (7:36.5) and Iona (7:48.7) finished ahead of the Stags in the race. The
varsity 4x rowed as an exhibition since the other entries scratched. Arianna
