Women's Swimming & Diving Wins Second Consecutive ECAC Winter Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Fairfield University women's swimming and diving took home the their second consecutive first-place trophy in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Winter Championships. The Stags scored a total of 1,835 points over three days of competition winning five events on the weekend.
 
The Stags finished atop the podium above LIU and Monmouth who came in second and third place respectively. Fairfield also topped MAAC foes Siena and Manhattan.
 
Fairfield started off the meet with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj, Colleen Young, Morgan Hansen, and Maria Nitti clocked in at 1:44.84. Sara Ostensen won the 200 Yard Butterfly with a final time of 2:05.14. She then placed second in the 500 Yard Freestyle at 5:01.38 and finished third in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 17:15.97. Maria Nitti won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a new school record time of 23.49. Nitti placed second in the 100 Yard Freestyle at 51.43 and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:52.91.  Morgan Hansen finished in second place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a final time of 55.48 and placed second in the 200 Yard Butterfly at 2:05.20.  She also came in third in the 200 Yard Individual Medley at 2:07.78. Rachel Landry finished in third place in the 400 Yard Individual Medley (4:33.83) while Shannon Feeley finished close behind in fourth place (4:34.33). Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj placed third in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:06.81) and fourth in the 100 Yard Backstroke (58.59). Victoria Krivitsky also placed fourth in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:23.83). 
 
The Stags won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay as Samantha D'Alessandro, Emily Holman, Ostensen, and Nitti finished with a final time of 1:36.26. Miko-Rydzaj, Krivitsky, Hansen, and Nitti also won the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:50.19 which was a new ECAC record for the event. 
 
Fairfield also came in second place in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay as Rachel Landry, Nitti, Hansen, and Ostensen clocked in at 7:37.33.  D'Alessandro, Hansen, Ostensen, and Nitti also finished in second place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay at 3:30.18. 
 
Caitlin Campbell finished fifth in the 1 Meter Diving with a score of 196 while Erin Wind finished fifth in the 3 Meter Diving with a score of 190.95. 
 
Fairfield returns to competition on January 3 as they host Saint Peter's and Wagner in the Fairfield Tri-Meet at the RecPlex Pool starting at 4 P.M. They will then take on Seton Hall at home on January 12 at 1 P.M.
