Women's Golf Finishes As Runner-Up At MAAC Championships, Just Three Strokes Shy Of Crown

The Fairfield University women's golf team shot a team score of 321 in the final round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship at Celebration Golf Course in Celebration, Fla.  The Stags finished the tournament with a three-round score of 1013, three strokes behind league champion Siena College.

Christiana Destefano shot the Stags best round of the day, carding a 76, and finished in third place overall, with a three-day score of 246.  Kristen Macdonald finished in fourth place, with a three-day 254, putting up her best round of the week on Sunday, with an 81.

Alicia Esposito improved eight strokes from her first two round scores, carding an 80 on Sunday, and finished tied for fifth with a 256.  Annie Sperandio shot an 84, her best score of the tournament in the third round, and finished with a tournament score of 259.  Claire Rothschild shot an 84 on Sunday and finished the tournament in eighth place with a 261.

The tournament is the final event of the season for the Stags.  Fairfield won a pair of tournaments this season, the Mount St. Mary's Fall Invitational and the teams own Spring Invitational.
