Fairfield University goalkeeper Mike Kruger (Ellicott City, Md.) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Kruger earned the honor after backstopping the Stags to an 11-8 win over non-conference foe Dartmouth College on Saturday. Kruger stopped 12 shots in the win, including five saves in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.

Kruger has minded the net for all 120 minutes of the Stags first two games of the season, and has posted a 2-0 record in that time. He has made 22 saves on the year, facing 58 shots. Kruger's GAA of 6.50 is second in the ECAC, and he has a save percentage of .629 in the two games. He has made 22 total saves, while allowing only 13 goals.

Fairfield, with Kruger in net, is 2-0 for the first time since the 2005 season, a year that saw the Stags win a school-record 11 games, and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Kruger leads the Stags back into action on Saturday, March 10, as the team hosts ECAC Lacrosse League foe Rutgers at home at 2 p.m. Fairfield looks for its third straight win and to open a season at 3-0 for the first time since 2004.
