Fairfield University head men's lacrosse coach Ted Spencer announced that former Syracuse University standout Rob Mulligan has joined the Stags coaching staff for the 2007 season. Mulligan will have game day and practice responsibilities, primarily working with the Stags goalkeepers.
"I am excited to have Rob join our staff," said Spencer. "His skills in the crease and his experience at an elite level will be a benefit to our program."
Mulligan is a 2001 graduate of Syracuse, where he was a two-time All-America selection in goal. He is fifth on the Orange career saves list with 626, while his 224 saves in 1999 is the 10th best single-season effort in program history.
A two-year captain, Mulligan backstopped the Orange to the 2001 NCAA championship game, finishing with 14 saves against Princeton. He posted a 9-3 mark in NCAA play, and is third in career NCAA saves, 135, at Syracuse.
A native of Farmingdale, N.Y., Mulligan graduated from Farmingdale High School. He earned five varsity lacrosse letters, and lettered in football. He was his team's MVP as a sophomore and an All-America selection as a senior.
