Men's Lacrosse Tabbed Sixth In NEILA Poll; Four Stags Honored

The Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team was tabbed sixth in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) in the 2008 Preseason Coaches Poll.  The Stags had four players honored on the preseason All-NEILA Team.

Travis Nelson was named to the preseason at attack, and Dan Boudreau was picked in the midfield.  Chris Atwell was recognized on the defensive unit, while Matt Scanlon earned honors at long stick.

The top four teams in the poll, and five of the top-seven teams are on the Stags 2008 schedule.  The top-pick of the coaches is ECAC Lacrosse League foe Massachusetts.  Dartmouth was tabbed second, followed by Yale, Harvard and Brown, before Fairfield.  Vermont was chosen seventh and Sacred Heart was picked eighth.

Fairfield kicks off the 2008 season on Saturday at Providence with 1 p.m. contest. (game notes)
