Stags Add Trombino And Mauk To Roster As Practice Begins
Jan 23, 2008
The Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team has begun its
spring practice schedule in preparation for its 13 game 2008
schedule. Despite sub-freezing temperatures in Fairfield
County this week, the Stags took the field Monday morning for its
first official practice of the spring.
Two new faces were on the field with the Stags that morning, as
James Mauk (New Canaan, Conn.) and Chris Trombino (Huntington,
N.Y.), have enrolled at Fairfield this spring.
Mauk is a 6-foot-0 freshman that will play in the midfield this
spring for the Stags. He attended Hotchkiss School last year
and graduated with four varsity letters from New Canaan High
School. In his final two seasons at New Canaan, Mauk was
named First Team All-State.
Trombino is a 6-foot-0 attack that played last season at The Hun
School (Princeton, N.J.) after a successful scholastic career at
St. Anthony’s High School. He earned All-MAPL and
All-League honors from the Trentionian Times after leading The Hun
School to a 15-5 record. At St. Anthony’s, Trombino
helped the Friars to 50 wins in three seasons, including a CHSAA
title.
Fairfield will have three exhibition games this spring, beginning
on Saturday, Feb. 2, when it hosts Army on Alumni Field. The
Stags will play Feb. 9 at Penn, and concluded the pre-season
portion of its schedule on Feb. 16, again at home, versus
Lafayette.
The Stags begin the regular season at Providence on Saturday, Feb.
23, before opening the home portion of their schedule on March 1,
hosting Dartmouth.
