Six Sign NLI's To Play Men's Lacrosse For Stags

Fairfield University head men’s lacrosse coach Ted Spencer has announced the signing of six players to National Letters of Intent during the early period and form the foundation of the Stags Class of 2012.  The newest member of the Stags lacrosse program are: Brent Adams (Norwalk, Conn.), Charles Cipriano (Williston Park, N.Y.), Michael Esposito (Bellport, N.Y.), Billy Grayson (Washington, D.C.), John Snellman (Norwalk, Conn.) and Nick Tandoi (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

“I am happy to welcome these six young men to the Fairfield lacrosse family,” Spencer said.  “They are a talented group that I am excited to watch develop and contribute over the course of their careers at Fairfield.”

Adams, a senior at Norwalk High School, will join the Stags midfield.  He enters his senior season having tallied 115 points over the last two seasons.  Adams was named First Team All-State as a junior, as well as earning All-FCIAC and All-Area accolades.

Cipriano is a goalkeeper who is completing his final year at Herricks High School.  He enters his senior season as the school’s all-time leader in saves, with 1,023, after setting the single-season mark with 370 saves.  He is a three-time All-Nassau County selection and was a member of the 2007 gold medal winning team at the Empire State Games.

Esposito is a an attack that is a senior at Bellport High School.  He scored a team-best 80 points as a junior, earning team MVP honors and All-County accolades.  Esposito also led the team in scoring as a sophomore, with 56 points, and was named the Suffolk County Rookie of the Year.  He also excels in the classroom and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Grayson, a defender, is currently a senior at St. Alban’s High School.  He helped lead St. Alban’s to the 2007 IAC championship.  Was a stalwart in the defensive unit that allowed just five goals a game on the way to a 15-4 record.

Snellman is an attack that is attending the Salisbury School, after graduating from Norwalk High School.  He left Norwalk as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 160, and a two-time team MVP.  Snellman was named All-State, All-Area and All-FCIAC as both a junior and senior, serving as team captain both seasons.

Tandoi is a midfielder who is currently completing his scholastic career at Lindenhurst High School.  He was selected to the All-County team as a junior after earning the Rookie of Suffolk award in 2006.

Fairfield is beginning its third season as a member of the ECAC Lacrosse League.  The Stags begin the 2008 campaign on the road, Feb. 23, at Providence, before hosting Dartmouth on March 1, for their first of six home games.
